LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) and LNG (liquefied natural gas) are transported on specialized ships, but they differ in properties and storage conditions. LPG and LNG ships have different storage and safety systems tailored to these conditions.

ccording to Annex I of the MARPOL International Convention, the discharge of oil in special areas is strictly prohibited. Special areas include, for example, the Mediterranean Sea, the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea, and others. In these areas, the discharge of any oil-containing mixtures is prohibited, except when the ship is in an emergency situation and the discharge is necessary to ensure safety.
